The purpose of the Brighton Legacy Foundation is to improve the quality of life in the Brighton community by serving as the leading source directing charitable support to meet our current and future needs. The Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization operating under official bylaws with a board of directors which meets the fourth Thursday of each month from 11:30-1:00 at Historic City Hall.
We are primarily funded through the City of Brighton, but also receive support from generous community sponsors and a variety of fundraising activities and events. With the help of our premier sponsors, we host the annual Metro Area Disc Golf Tournament, a daylong event held at Benedict Park, generally in May, which attracts more than 70 competitive golfers from around the metro area. This event also traditionally ties into the Brighton Blues Festival with a blues festival theme.
Additionally, we’ve presented fun community events like the:
“Kickin’ It for the Community” Kickball Tournament
A family friendly event featuring two “leagues”: one for family teams that can include children between the ages of 5-18 playing with their families; and a more competitive league for players over 18.
Historic Downtown Walking Tour
Working with the Downtown Partnership group, we sponsor an evening of food and Brighton History. This September event begins with a buffet at Pinocchios followed by narrated tours of buildings in Historic Downtown, and ends with dessert at The Armory.
BVB Legacy Poker Run
A fun 90 mile ride, open to bikers and cagers alike, hitting five different locations for lots of fun, food, and prizes, all for a great cause!
And in the fall of 2015 we will introduce a new event called the Ghost Run, a fun and spooky Halloween themed 5K at Barr Lake. Stay tuned for more information coming soon!
Aside from fundraising events, we also participate in various community events including Help for Homes and CultureFest.
